Cool Guys

Yesterday I went to the gym and it really reminded me how silly guys are. First, let's preface this by describing the gym I go to. It's a YMCA filled with lots and lots of old people with matching "SILVER SNEAKERS" t shirts and lanyards around their necks (very much like picture above). The sit down bikes are always full because, let's face it, those cuties can't do much else. That being said, I got some real entertainment yesterday. These two average guys (not at all like picture above), probably late 30's were working out on the leg press. They were slowly building up the weights on each side and taking turns. It got to the point that gym dude #2 would have to help the gym dude #1 on the machine by pushing on the weight bars to get it started. You think this would be enough weight, but no, guys are too cool. So last set, 360 on each side, that's 720 lbs for you math nerds, and no longer is just one guy enough to get it started. So they start looking around the gym to see who is going to help them. They look at me and think, "Nope. New mom. Can only lift 10 lb baby." They look a little further and see the silver sneakers club and think, "Nope. Need help tying their shoes." They keep looking and are really starting to get disappointed. Then gym dude #1 goes and gets the receptionist guy to help. I think gym dudes had stopped thinking at this point because this guy was probably 5'5'' and 140 lbs (he also looked like he was not old enough to drive). But he sauntered in, ready to help gym dudes. So here we are: gym dude #1 on leg press with 720 lbs, Gym dude #2 on one side, and 12 year old receptionist on the other. They push and push but can't get the machine started. 12 year old dude is straining so hard, I thought he was going to poop his pants. When is enough enough? I really don't know who they were showing off for, maybe they thought the little blue haired ladies with matching keds were cute. These guys were just too cool, they did leave after this and I do have to mention, didn't bother re-racking their weights.
See my life is kinda boring huh?
